Whenever you look at the works of Adler Llagas, a prolific painter from Baras, a town in Rizal, it will remind you the balitaw composed by the prolific composer from Manila, Santiago S, Suarez and the lyrics was produced by the National Artist for Music, Levi Celerio titled "Sa Libis".
Meanwhile, what is interesting in Llagas works is he has been able to utilize the different light conditions at different times of day to capture the ever-changing beauty of the same scenery. Of course, Llagas does not only painting the scenes but also the life of the country folks-the farmer tilling the fields or harvesting the golden palay; or the mothers who are taking care of the children, among others. In his paintings, the quote from British author Jenny Nimmo comes to life.
"There's nothing like the peace of countryside, the quiet and the lack of distraction. It helps you to focus your mind." And may rapid change not disrupt this tranquility being brought by the idyllic life in the countryside.
