Collection: Myk Velasco

Michael ‘Myk’ N. Velasco (b. Quezon city) He is a versatile artist that can do murals, portraitures, figures and abstract took fine arts Major in Studio Arts (painting) at the University of the Philippines Diliman. A bonafide member of the University of the Philippines Centennial Artist Group and Filipino Portrait Artist Guild. it is through this weekly activity that Michael Velasco spends his time further refining his skills in depicting other techniques and forms of art.

Throughout his career, he has mounted six solo exhibitions, and participated in over twenty group shows here and abroad. He showcased a variety of representational works, most notable of which are his gold leaf series, a favorite among his collectors. His works primarily celebrate the female form in various stages of repose, and in visual dialogue with geometric patterns fashioned by drapery, juxtaposing femininity with an equally vulnerable material.

Mr. Velasco’s pieces depict women as symbols of grace, elegance and humanity. In his own words, Michael Velasco says that “gold is the color of success, achievement and triumph and is associated with abundance and prosperity, luxury and quality, prestige and sophistication, value and elegance, the psychology of this color implies affluence, material wealth and extravagance.”
