Ramon Orlina, a contemporary glass sculptor from the Philippines, was born on January 27, 1944, in Manila. Before embarking on his artistic journey, Orlina pursued architecture at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. Orlina has expressed his fascination with glass as an endlessly captivating material, which presents him with an even greater challenge to explore its potential. Using his unique approach and self-made tools, Orlina skillfully carves his sculptures from green glass blocks without the use of heat. In recent years, his focus has shifted from abstract forms to depicting the female body. Currently, the artist resides and works in Manila, Philippines.
