Softness and color wonder are what young Filipino student-artist Sofia Martinez expresses in her young works that had been shown in the brilliant second group exhibition of Grupo Estilo entitled, 'Isang Pagpupugay, ' where the young artist made her first entrance in the Art Scene alongside eight
distinguished professional artists, namely, Alpha Larracas, Pedro Felix Garcia II, Felix Amoncio, Maia Magpantay, Pit Monton, Kristoffer Tolentino, Bong Ducat, and Henri Cainglet. And so followed the next exhibition under the theme of harvest, “Likha at Biyaya,” which enabled Martinez to explore both boundaries and possibilities of the non literal sense through the foundations of art making.
Working under the medium oil and acrylic, Sofia has been painting since she was a kid. She is recognized in the Art Scene as the daughter of the late Jun Martinez, the distinguished master of his craft known for his signature and bold brush strokes and an award-winning impressionist. Sofia’s Mother, Alpha Larracas, is a known personality in the
Art Scene herself; as a woman of distinct art style and fantastical flavors on canvases, Young Martinez grew inspired of her, and of her Father as well.
As future projects, exhibitions, and features are to be announced soon, she is currently studying in the Painting Program at the University of Santo Tomas, College of Fine Arts and Design, continuing a young career in Art, Music, and Writing.
