Cid Reyes is a distinguished Filipino artist and art critic, known for his significant contributions in both fields. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts from De La Salle University, he received a grant from the Italian government to study painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. He furthered his art history education at the City Lit Institute in London.

Reyes' debut solo exhibition took place in 1969 at Joy Dayrit’s Print Gallery. Over the years, he has held exhibitions at venues such as Solidaridad Gallery, The Hyatt Hotel, West Gallery, The Drawing Room, Ricco-Renzo Gallery, and Galerie Astra, accumulating a total of 20 solo shows to date.

As an art critic, Reyes' career took off after winning the Grand Prize in an AAP art criticism competition. His accomplishments include the influential book "Conversations on Philippine Art," a decade-long weekly art column "Gallery Hopping" in TODAY from 1995 to 2004, where he penned over 500 art reviews, and coffee table books on National Artists Arturo Luz, BenCab, J. Elizalde Navarro, and Napoleon V. Abueva. He has also authored numerous art books on artists such as Malang, Augusto Albor, Lao Lianben, Charito Bitanga, Valeria Cavestany, and Edwin Wilwayco, as well as on the Philippine Art Awards’ "Decade of Achievement" and Metrobank’s art competition "MADE of Gold."

In 1979, the Art Association of the Philippines (AAP) honored Reyes with the “Best in Art Criticism Award.” In 2015, he received the “Most Outstanding Kapampangan in the Arts” award from the Government of Pampanga. His coffee table book "MVP: The Man and His Art" won a GOLD Trophy from the American Business Awards in 2021, marking the first Philippine art book to achieve international recognition.

Reyes has further cemented his legacy through numerous art books, including co-authorship of "Tanaw: The Central Bank Art Collection" and "Herencia: The BPI Art Collection." His latest works focus on Spanish, Manila-based artist Betsy Westendorp and the MVP Group of Companies Art Collection. Upcoming publications will feature glass sculptor Ramon Orlina, Prudencio Lamarroza, Roy Veneracion, and the Saturday Group's 50th Anniversary.
